I am not prepared to do that. one bite of a croissant or bagel sends me a strong, message that I have a grain allergy. This only presented six years ago. A formal diagnosis would benefit me because in Canada it can be used for an Income Tax deduction on nuts and nut flours, honey and other foods that need to replace those that are excluded. My doc gave me a letter that I have had to follow a celiac diet but it won't stand up without a validated diagnosis via test results. Carol F. Guest guest
Dear Sue, Please contact me off serve. I have much to say in this area, as my entire family minus adopted one, have celiac disease. TWO confirmed with " Gold standard " and two we assume because it is so obvious. Guess what? NEGATIVE CELIAC BLOODS TESTS in all four of us! BTVC has been a GOD SEND to us in understanding this phenomena. I can tell you more off serve too. Our GI specialists is shocked...because of our family he has checked others. In last year and a half since he met our family, he has confirmed 1/2 dozen other patients of his with NEGATIVE BLOOD WORK! My suggestion would be to read the chapter Elaine wrote on Celiac with a highlighter pen like I did. She explains how people are being missed. I wanted to give her a hug personally for this CHAPTER! MUCH MORE THAN GLUTEN for starters! Our GI doc says that other things other than gluten can cause damage, and this is exactly what Elaine explains in her book. Elaine use to become furious about this gluten " madness " . She knew that people where going to be missed because of this, and she was right. You are more than likely one that may be missed. Carol has a point, confirm yourself. MOST Doctors at this time will not be able to do this for you. If you go SCD and feel better....then there is your answer! We tried GF...only got minimal relief...SCD has worked better by far, ways to go though only 4 months out...but keepers so far. God Bless YOU! Antoinette and both biopsy confirmed celiacs/parents to -5 celiac/adhd KiKI-2 celiac/asd and Bubbles-hyperekplexia (adopted), SCD 2/
Guest guest
The blood test (ttg) is only about 80% accurate if negative. False positives are a rarity, see: http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=141 Kind regards, KimS celiac family scd 2003-2004
