Guest guest
Hello - My son has an eczema patch on his cheek - the area directly under the sideburn part of the helmet on the side where pressure is needed. I was very concerned about this patch flairing up prior to getting his helmet, but it has been fine. I apply aquaphor at every helmet break. The ortho told me to be careful about putting powder in near that section of the helmet as it could be overly drying. He's had his Hanger band for 4 weeks and we have not had any problems with it so far. eczema and hemet at 6 mo & new intro Hello everyone, My son is dagnosed with plagiocephaly and we just got our helmet yesterday at Children's in Boston. He was just on the cusp of the "normal" range and the plastic surgeon said it was up to us and since it's a covered item we opted to do it. We were also told that it would take 6 weeks at most... I have two questions for the group. My son also has eczema and I'm very afraid that this will worsen it so if there is anyone out there whose child has eczema and a helmet I am very interested in how you manage both.. if you put a cotton hat underneath or more breaks... just to know what I am getting into.I'll send my second question in a new thread since it's a bit different. Thanks
Guest guest
My son has eczema pretty bad as well. I myself was terrified of what would happen with him wearing his helmet; however, he didn't have much for breakouts on his head or face while in the helmet. What I did have to do was only wash his head with Aveeno soap every 2-3 days and just water on the other days to wipe the sweat off. He did not have a pretty smelling head by any means, but if I washed it everyday with soap he would break out. If he did get a break out, I would just put hydrocortisone on those spots, let it dry and then put the helmet back on. Also, I did lotion his head up every morning and evening after wiping it down to help keep it moisturized. It did not seem to bother the helmet at all. Hope this helps Amy Bryson 13 months (graduated 9/08) From: anadashmaria <anadashmaria@...>Subject: eczema and hemet at 6 mo & new introPlagiocephaly Date: Thursday, February 19, 2009, 7:34 AM Hello everyone, My son is dagnosed with plagiocephaly and we just got our helmet yesterday at Children's in Boston.
