Hi Alison,

<< We have made major changes in our life, no chemical cleaners,

perfumes, chemical free shampoos, soaps, loo paper, organic clothes,

bedding, food. .>>

Wow... you really have covered practically all the bases already! That's

fantastic! Sorry I bombarded you with info you already knew. :)

<<I know you must hate these soughts of qu's but when do you start to

see some steady improvement without such steep rollercoastering.>>

It's really nearly impossible to know... each child is so different. You are

really at the beginning. You might expect at least a couple more difficult

weeks. I would be surprised if you didn't begin to see a glimmer of hope after

one month... but you still may have ups and downs to contend with. Think of this

as a curvy road up a steep mountain.... weaving back and forth, sometimes

slipping... eventually making it to the top.

Are you doing epsom salts baths to help him with die-off symptoms?

<<Without melatonin Jack won't go to sleep for 3-4hrs with it he is

usually asleep in 30 mins to 1hr. .>>

That seems fine then.... just wanting to make sure it was something he really

needs. Sounds like he does... and that YOU would be sleep-deprived if he didn't

take it!

<<I really don't know about this, his homeopath wants to do a MMR

reversal or drainage homeopathically. She said it was a powerful

detoxing tool that is safe & effective, but will have major adverse

behavioural effects whilst it is working. At this stage I don't know

if it is needed,>>

I would seriously consider waiting on this, if at all possible. I know someone

who has done this detox with homeopathy... and it was quite rough for their

daughter. I wish that I had been able to convince that child's mom to get on SCD

first.... THEN do the homeo-detox. I tried! They are starting the diet now, but

I sincerely believe that little girl would have had a much easier time detoxing

if her gut had had a chance to heal somewhat first.

If you do BOTH at the same time, you may not know what is doing what. Very

disconcerting. The diet is powerful, too.... and you really want to know how he

is responding to foods and dealing with die-off, etc. I think it's a good thing

to do... but really feel the diet should be the foundation and that you should

have it solidly in place before starting it.

<<It is Elixir pure raw honey, may contain some pollen, beeswax &

propolis. No heating or antibiotics used.>>

That sounds fine. It is clear honey, right? Filtered? That is preferred.

<<Is the acidophilus supps as effective as yogurt or am I better

using 1/4 tsp day of yogurt.>>

No... yogurt is definitely preferred, if it can be tolerated. It has other

healing qualities that go beyond just being a vehicle for the probiotic. If you

can, I would do the yogurt.

<<Yes I make my own pear juice. I thought that quantities were not

limited on this, I thought this was said somewhere in the intro

phase of the diet. however I have not let Jack have more than 3

pears a day- is this too much?>>

Hmmmm... well, you're right, quantities really are not limited.... however you

do want a good balance. Personally, that would seem like a lot of pears to me.

But, maybe not for Jack. It is hard to say when there is so much going on. I

would rather see more balance of vegetables, if possible. Three pears a day

might not technically be illegal... but it really depends on the child as to how

well the healing process is going and the balance of other foods they're eating.

You are diluting the juice, right?

<<I heard of kefir & coc milk it ferments it & makes it easier on the

gut, also it has anti-viral,fungal & bacterial properties.>>

Please go read this section on kefir at Elaine's website:

<<Is using coc oil ok then I have been using this a lot since I ran

out of ghee. >>

Yes, coconut oil.... and homemade coconut milk (not fermented) are both just

fine. Recipe for coconut milk is on www.pecanbread.com .
