Guest guest
I have been researching WLS for about two months. I am 54 years old, 5'9 " tall, weighing 290 lbs. (BMI 42.5). I spoke with my PCP about WLS and he told me that he thought the VBG would be the best way to go. Then I found the OSSG website and heard from many, many patients who had the VBG that the surgery was disappointing and many ended up having the RNY. Now I read that the RNY is very dangerous. I am trying to make an informed decision about surgery. I consider having WLS to be a drastic step -- probably the biggest decision I've ever made in my life. There are so many conflicting stories. How do you get the straight poop on something? My insurance will cover the WLS, I have made contact with a surgeon (but have not seen him, but hearing negative stories about a surgery that I had decided on is very scary. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Baton Rouge, LA
