Does my daughter need the diet also?

My son is starting the SCD diet, but I have been wondering if my

daughter could also benefit from it also. I just want to know if

there are any other moms out there with same problem. My daughter has

developed well, eats anything, although she can't tolerate milk or

soy. Since she turned about 15 months she had hardly ever had a

formed bowel movement. More times than few her bowel movement are

very acid like, smells like a " garbage dump " and burns her bottom

terribly. She ate french fries the other day and she never digested

them. Could it be celiac? My son just had a biopsy done and it came

back negative, but both of their blood test came back high. Does this

sound like anything in particular?

Thanks,

,

This simply sounds to me like she may have some degree of damage to her gut....

from who-knows-what. Antibiotics? Or??

If you're starting your son on SCD, my advice would be to have both kids on the

diet (easier for you anyway) and see how she responds.

We have had more than one family here that have one child with autism... and

another " neurotypical " child in the family that just happens to have gut issues.

In the two cases that I'm thinking of, BOTH kids in the family were put on SCD

and both improved.

Worth a try. Who knows what further complicated issues your daughter could have

down the road that you could avoid altogether by proactively doing SCD for a

year or so. The SCD yogurt is a WONDERFUL food... for ALL of us... and SCD

itself is a very healthy diet.

Dear , I agree with Patti, and have a bit of experience with a family

full of gut problems. lol In my opinion if you are human you can benefit from

SCD TM diet. It is truly a healthier way of eating than many other ways. WE

found it very interesting that our adopted daughter, who did not have celiac

(who also had undigested food in diaper)...has benefited from this diet. She

use to have a swollen belly. Now gone. She also was diagnosed with

Hyperekplexia...not a gut problem but neurological. She is doing much better

now...go figure. I say go for it. As a family of five we all eat SCD...the

entire house is SCD legal...even the pet food! Talk about " fanatical " ...we are

all doing better...even the darn cat, who no longer has to take prednisone (no

joke)! Go to this link and see what Elaine said.

Antoinette and entire family of five SCD 2/06 (reasons: Celiac, add, adhd,

autism, hyperekplexia)
