Hi Robin,

As I stated earlier, my wife had that Transduodenal

Sphincteroplasty back in 2001. Post surgical hospital time was 27

days ,with morphine pumps, and nasal tube feeding which continued 2

weeks after she got home. She was so clogged with stones that it had

to be done. Prior to surgery, at times during an ERCP, the doctor

could not attempt looking at the organ because it was so inflammed.

He had to back out the scope it was so bad. As a result of that

surgery, she has lead a much better quality of life, it was a God

send in her case for 3 full years. Good Luck, be well. Fred

I am 3 months post op and feeling great. I have some food questions. I was

seeing a nutritionist but I lost my medical insurance and I can't afford to go

right now. I was wondering what foods we can have at this point. Can I eat some

fruit if so what kind? Also do we have to stay away from carbs like pasta and

potatoes? If so why, are they harmful to your pouch? I know not to eat bread

it is not good at all for you. Can someone tell me what foods I can have now.

Up til this point I have not had many problems. I have dumped a few times

because I wasn't ready for that particular food and also I drank to soon after

eating is that normal not normal but ok it won't kill me right? What is the most

important foods you should not eat after having the WLS?

Please answer I know these questions seem weird but I am just trying to get

some answers from everyone until I can get back to the doctors when my

insurance kicks in again. Not untill July. Thanks for everything.

What are the three numbers at the end of the posts? Like 404/220/130 for example

and for my size 230 height 5'4 will they do the surgery. I have blue cross blue

shield hmo does anyone know if this insurance will cover this surgery. For my

size will I have drooping sagging skin afterwards and how much weight can I

expect to loose I don't want to end up looking like skeleton. Are the horror

stories that go around about this surgery true, such as some people can never

eat again and have to be on ensure or an iv or they throw up every time they eat

something.. Thanks :)

e,

I personally have thrown up 4 times since my surgery over a month ago.

(some people haven't thrown up at all) Two of those times was because I ate

too fast, one time was because the last bite came up and I threw up last

night after eating shrimp and I just don't think it agreed with me. Anyway,

I have to say I feel soooooooooo much better after I throw up. It's not

like a sick throw up, it's more like a relief. With that said.

I did countless hours of research on this surgery before making the decision

and I spent countless hours researching ALL the complications that can

happen. I did not go into this surgery blindly, by any means. I was very

fortunate to not have ANY complications as of yet. Some people say they are

not hungry. I for one, do get hungry (it's not head hunger). I have kept

myself on an eating schedule and my tummy knows when it's between 8:00 and

9:00, 12:00 and 1:00, and 5:00 and 6:00. The reason I have myself on a

schedule is because before the surgery my husband and I would at times eat

at 2 or 3 in the afternoon and then again at 9 or later at night. I make it

a goal not to eat after 7:30 or 8:00 at night. As for eating out, we eat

out ALL of the time. You really can still enjoy this (or at least I do).

You just have to take one bite at a time and chew, chew, chew. My husband

is very supportive of me and this surgery. He doesn't mind me taking 30

minutes or longer to eat. If we are in a hurry, I just get it to go and eat

on the way to wherever we may be going. I will say one of the hardest

things for me is waiting 30 minutes to drink after eating. I tend to get

the hiccups almost every time I eat, which is irritating. I hope this helps

you a little bit in making your decision.

I left it in God's hands. I figure he wouldn't give me a complication I

couldn't handle.
