Guest guest
Dory, I just self-payed my MGB last week. Here are my expenses: Ambulatory Surgical Center $7,000 Anesthesia 858 Dr. Rutledge (including clinic) 3,455 Airfare for two 500 Hotel for 6 nights 450 Car rental for 6 days 200 Food and misc 300 That comes to a grand total of $12,763 The hospital charges are different. They want a down payment up front of $11,000. You may have to pay more, or you may get some back. The hotel bill could be lower if you choose a different hotel. I chose one that had a two-bedroom suite with 2 bathrooms b/c of privacy on my part. Had my husband been able to go with me, I would have stayed at the Fairfield for $15 cheaper per night. Plus I had alot of phone charges (they added up to over $35 for LOCAL calls)...there was some major MIS-communication about that when I reserved the room. And of course the Food and misc could be lower... ate alot! LOL Just kidding! Still, by far this surgery is MUCH MUCH lower in cost than any other! Hope this helps! Guest guest
Did you have to pay all this the day of your surgery or are you currently making payments? Guest guest
I had to pay Dr. Rutledge on the day of clinic. The anesthesia and surgery center bill were paid the morning of surgery. I used plastic to fund this surgery. We are a family of 6 on one (very small) income. We are still hounding the insurance company to pay for this, but we did not want to wait for many reasons. My DEAR husband said that even if we do end up paying for this all ourselves (and in the meantime living on potatoes for the next 10 years!), that it will be worth it. He said you can't put a pricetag on my health and happiness. We have a credit card company who was willing to give us 6.9% for the duration of payment. We did have to pay a small transaction fee of $30 to do this. Hope this helps..
