Facial pain and headache, although frequent complaints of patients > with rhinosinusitis, are not useful predictors of sinus disease severity. Based on my son, this is the case. His sinuses are a mess (or were until surgery, daily nasal lavage and antibiotic therapy) but he rarely complains of facial pain. When he does complain, I listen and he gets Tylenol promptly. Once this winter a school he went to the nurse (she was a substitute) and requested she call me because his eyes hurt. She turned him down because a headache wasn't serious enough to call. I was bullshit. She obviously didn't bother to look up his medical history nor did the teacher enlighten her. jan
