Guest guest
I was seeing a naturopath who told us to stay off mucous producing foods (eggs, dairy, wheat, peanuts, bananas, sugar, corn, potatoes, soy, etc) and gave us a tincture, nettles, vit A drops and Zinc. I was using the latter three until today when we started the Intro Diet. I did bring him to a regular asthma/allergy doc who decreased the meds given by a previous doc (quack), leaving us with just the Pulmicort once a day. This doctor (as well as my ped) told me that studies don't confirm that these foods are mucous producing. I have learned to take what allopathic mds say with a grain of salt. I prefer to watch my son and that is my study. We will see how he does on the DCCC today and if it seems to increase his mucous production. Otherwise, my son has no symptoms of asthma so we haven't had to add anything else. What is MSM? I have not heard of Quercetin. Is it a treatment for asthma or RAD? Thank you for the information. Tammy Re: Pulmicort and Intro SCD Tammy, I am not a doctor and this is not advice or a recommendation. I am just going to share what we have seen when using oral inhaled steriods. My son has asthma (I have RAD). When his asthma was really flaring 1.5 years ago, we tried numerous things to no avail. We tried Singulair, which worked fabulously, except for the horrible side effects (long story). So, we stopped it. We tried a low dose of oral inhaled steroids and within a coupel of days he developed thrush. My son cannot tolerate any inhaled steroids without it affecting the yeast, which he had been free of for well over a year before this episode. It brought it back- and fast. What we have learned since then is that Quercetin works on the same pathways that Singulair does without the nasty side effects. Both of my boys take MSM, which got them off of antihistamines and and I have been taking Quercetin. (I had never been able to find a drug that I could tolerate to help with the RAD.) Are there any " natural " or " alternative " doctors in your area that you could take your son to see? Guest guest
If you use Google and type in " MSM allergies " and " quercetin asthma " you'll find some of the information. Neither of them are drugs. They work much better for me (I am ultra-sensitive to drugs). Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/
