Hi,

I have a son, 17 yr old with CF (dx'd 1 year ago) and read of your offer on

the CF Parents list to send a " food list " ( which I think included foods high

in sulfur?). I would appreciate your sending me any information re foods and

supplements. My son is quite lean, has struggled with eating anything since

birth but has no pancreatic involvement, so is not on enzymes. He takes in

whatever we can find that he will try( which isn't much) and a chewable

multivit(Centrum, Hi Potency). Any and all suggestions re foods and/ or

supplements is

welcomed. The CF doctor is considering a feeding tube next month, but even

this has not prompted much increase in oral intake by my son. (he does use

Ensure, Scandishakes, but this isn't getting weight on him; he has seen

nutritionists and a behavioral psychologist in the past and does not have

anorexia

nervosa, though he looks like he does). Currently 5''7'', 108 lbs

Any and all suggestions re foods and/or supplements are welcomed! Thanks in

advance!

Marcia s( mom to 17 yr old boy with CF and 14 yr old girl without CF)

PS I am cc'ing the CF Parents List in hopes of getting additional

responses/suggestions from others who may have knowledge to share!

You have definatly come to the right place. My son is 7 months old and

was diagnosed at 2 weeks. Since I had the guts to really start talking

and learning I have grown to love this list and many of the folk on it.

You will learn stuff you never even thought of yourself.

Good luck getting that weight on your 17 year old. My son also

has a feeding tube. It is quite an ordeal at his age. I am sure that it

will be much easier with him. That is if you can get over the look of

it. Everytime I look at my sons I want to cry but then I think about

how much it is supposed to help him and that takes those tears away.

Hope you stay it really is fun here
