Guest guest
What type of band are you getting for your son? The fact that you have to wait three weeks to get it concerns me. Ideally, your child will be fit with the band within 14 days of the casting date to assure proper fit and function. Babies grow so fast that even waiting three weeks you might not get the best fit with the band. If you can, I would highly recommend moving up the fit date. Molly Novato, California Nicolas, 3, tort & plagio, STARband (CIRS Oakland) 4/24/06-9/12/06, Graduate! , 6 , 9 went for Lincoln's casting Yesterday we took Lincoln to get cast for his band. He was fine during the measurement part but once they started the plastering he screamed and squirmed and cried so hard he had boogies coming out of his nose and was gagging I felt so bad. My husband held him during the process cause I knew i wasnt going to be able to hold him still long enough so when they were done I held him and eventually he calmed down. The doc was very nice. The place is an hour and a half away and we had an appt the day before with another doctor and then one the same day just hours before this appt and of course i forgot my camera charger at home and my camera battery died and it takes a special kind of battery so i went an bought a throw away and i told him that and in he comes with his digital camera and said I could use that and then he calls me into his office and lets me get on his computer and email em to myself so he was cool. He let another mom come in before we started with her little boy who had a month left and she answered any questions we had about the helmet. He says Lincoln has to wear it for 6 months so till he is 14 months which was a LOT longer than I thought I had always heard 3 months so we pick up on april 1st then go back a week after to check for any sore spots etc. and then every 3 weeks till sept. My husband only has mondays and tuesdays off and of course the doctor is only at the 2 offices close to us on wednesday and fridays and are only open till 5 so thats our next issue finding out how to get there cause we only have one car and I wouldnt want to go that far alone with the baby just in case something happened so we are figuring that out and lookin for decorating ideas ------------------------------------ For more plagio info
Guest guest
They didn't tell me a name of it. They casted from the top of his forhead to the nape of his neck if that means anything and they showed us the one that is the band kind not a full helmet. They gave us this appointment when they gave us the appointment for the casting so I am unsure of why the wait besides maybe the fact he is only there on wednesdays and seems to be the only one around that does it but I am not positive.Maybe they got to send away for it somewhere that is far away cause I dont live in a major city. > > What type of band are you getting for your son? Guest guest
All of the major helmet providers (DOC, STAR and Hanger) have one main headquarters that make the bands, so there is always shipping involved with those bands (for instance, we went to CT in Charlotte and they had to ship my son's cast to Phoenix for the band to be made). Some others probably do the same. Two weeks is really the max it should take for a band to be made. I would call and ask them what the name of the band is, or if it's made locally, it might not have a name (in which case, they probably manufacturer it right there). If it's one of the top three though (listed above), it is required they be made within 2 weeks, because of a baby's rate of growth. Guest guest
I should clarify, that it not only is made, but fitted within 2 weeks in order to guarantee a proper fit.
