Update on New Pancreatitis patient

Apparently, after 7 days in the hospital, the enzyme levels have gone

down, but my wife still complains of severe pain. Now there is a new

complication. Since the pain is all over her abdomen, the docs

suggested a CT scan today. Results showed that there is a lot of

fluid in the abdomen and the doc believes that it could be infected

too...a condition called Peritonitis (sp?). This excess fluid may

contain " leaked " enzymes from the Pancreas and could be " eating away "

on the gut walls. They plan to test the fluid of any organizms and

plan to treat it accordingly.

Has anyone on this board experienced this before? Any information

would be good to know. Thanks so much.
