Guest guest
Hi all, I'm back. Just had a talk with the person from the orthotics place here in Singapore and I've asked about the type of cranial helmet they do. Basically, they said it is similar to what i can find in orthoamerica sites, with foam lining on the inside and an open top. They will do a cast of my 15-month old daughter's head for the fitting, and do the modifications if required. Hence, i'm trying to decide what's the next move. - - - - - If i do it here: > Pros: Fraction of the cost compared to CT. But that's only the cost of the band. Plus the fact that i'd see my daughter's progress since she doesn't have to go anywhere far away. I can only stay in Pasadena for a month and will need to come back for work. > Cons: Succeeding consultations with the (cynical & discouraging) specialist after that will cost extras. Unless i can find a more positive doc. Weather here is warm and humid, with temperature rising to 33C right now in the day. Which only means keeping my daughter in air-conditioned areas while she's wearing the helmet. - - - - - If i go to CT: > Pros: CT is well known for their experience on this. Follow up treatment is done by them as well. Cooler weather, hence she can be outdoors. Anyone here from near Pasadena? > Cons: Months and miles away from wife and daughter. Costs of travelling and higher cost of band. ------- Also, is there anyone here who have used locally made, non-branded cranial helmets for their children? How are your experiences with them? What happens in a typical follow up consultation? How important are these follow ups? To (or others with late starters): How much improvement did your 17-month old child achieve after the treatment? The local therapist here (like the specialist) also cautioned me about any improvement of her condition, since she said after 11 months an infant's skull sutures are already starting to fuse. We haven't done any x-rays or CT scan for my child so i don't know if the sutures are now actually fused. Thanks to all in advance regards, the anxious dad --------------------------------------------------------------------- > > > > > > > > > > Hi, > > > > > > > > > > I'm a father of a 15-month old daughter who has a slight > > > > positional > > > > > plagio on the right side at the back of her head.
