Guest guest
Joni, I am on the Atkins diet. I too was a carbo junkie, but with this diet you cannot cheat or else. I did miss all the things I could not have. One day my husband and I were driving down the road and I was ranting and raving about what I missed eating and what I wanted to do (like stop at the store for a KING SIZE reeses peanut butter cup) and he looked at me and said " Yeah, but you want to live don't you??? " That was a slap back to reality and I realized I was being very selfish. My husband and 3 year old NEED me to be around a while. I was not thinking about the ultimate goal which is surgery, I was thinking instant gratification. I hope if you are trying to lose weight that you will. Like I have said in my previous posts Dr. Rutledge never told me no. I hope he will let you go ahead, as for me I will continue to fight as long as I can and then have the surgery. He said to me the less you weigh postoperatively the less likely you are to experience complications. Good luck and keep me posted With Love, Lara M. Guest guest
Marjory, Thanks for the post. I appreciate all the wishes and blessings I can get. Wow a year waiting list. YIKES!!!! I guess I should be grateful for only having to wait a few months. Good luck in your endeavors with the MGB as well. With Love, Lara M. Guest guest
Diane, Thanks for the congratulations. It has been very hard but it is coming off. I am looking into the week after that right now because my husband is taking his vacation that week. His birthday is the 16th so he has the 15-24th off and has to go back on the 25th. If I can get in there any sooner I WILL. Maybe I will go the week before and then let him take care of me (during his week off) while I recover LOL. I will keep everyone posted as to the weight loss. Lord willing and the creek don't rise I will be on my way the day the scales tell me what I want to hear. With Love, Lara M. Guest guest
Hi Lara, I have been communicating with a post-op patient in GA. who lost 70 lbs. in 3 1/2 months to get down to 350 for the surgery. I am praying with you, I know you can do it! You have a beautiful spirit (from your letters). Ruqayya
Guest guest
Thanks Lara... I've heard most everyone has been on that. I just have a very hard time staying away from the carbs....but if I really want to lose the weight I guess I must. It's good to hear that your husband thought enough of you to tell you what he did. Good men like that are hard to find. Take care Joni Shelton BMI (63) Hoping to get approved for the MGB LaraAkin033100@... wrote: > Joni, > I am on the Atkins diet.
