Guest guest
i have a 3 year old with c.f. who was just recently diagnosed. i can tell you the vest company and her pulmonary specialists said her chest circumference had to be at least 21 cm before she would qualify. they also wanted to know if there was any reason i may have trouble giving manual c.p.t.s (pitty-pats). i have severe carpel tunnel in my right hand. i hope this information was helpful. beth bennett--mother of 3 the youngest with c.f. gdattig5@... wrote:In a message dated 7/14/2003 12:21:33 PM Central Daylight Time, dweber_73@... writes: > Hi everyone. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, was a little over 3 when we got the vest, we asked a few times, but he had to be big enough for it. When he was in the hospital that October, his doc came in and was climbing the walls, literally, he asked, jokingly of course, if I thought we needed the vest. I must have looked exhausted because it was ordered before we left. And our insurance, luckily was great and we had it by the end of November. Hope all is good with is, , mommy of 4, almost 4 wCF
Guest guest
Hi , I dont know what insurance you have, but we have Fed BC/BS and they have been wonderful paying for whatever the docs call for, said that CF has a standard of care that is usually the same so they dont question things, they ask for letters of medical necessity sometimes, but other than that they pay. Good luck getting the vest, it has been a good thing for , he still complains some, especially when the frequency is made faster, but he does good with it overall. Good luck, , mommy of 4, almost 4 wCF
Guest guest
, Merrill is right...don't let the insurance issue prevent you from getting the Vest for . His health is what is important here. Many insurers cover the Vest because they have seen the money that it saves them in the long run. Even if they don't cover it or only partially cover it, there are ways around that as well. We are concerned about your child first. The insurance issues will work themselves out. We, Advanced Respiratory, will never put you in any type of financial risk. We may ask you for help in talking to the insurance company, but we will never put money up as an obstacle on the road to your child's well being. I hope this helps! Randy vest question One of the things mentioned at 's appt yesterday was the possibility of a vest. Last year he was too small now they think he may be big enough. What do we do if insurance refuses to pay any of it? shannon
Guest guest
We just got our first vest and they sent it to us without approval from our insurance first. They said if, by some slim chance the ins. co. says no then they appeal it and if they still say no there is a vest foundation or payment plan if you don't qualify for the foundations help.
