Guest guest
I just wanted to say that Pseudomonas can be found just about anywhere that is wet, this organisms thrive in moisture. If you read where they can be found you will make your life miserable. Always use common sense and reinforce heavy hand washing. I think Torsten, once wrote that they let the first 3 gallons of water run out of the faucet every morning and try not to live any wet towels around, I have been doing that, too. Other than that, it is a pretty hard thing to control, from what I have read. Remember children have to be children. Just my two cents worth. Love and wish you all well, mom of a 9 wcf, Venanzio 7 nocf, Pepe 3 nocf > A little while ago someone had a post about places to find Pseudomonas. If anyone still has it can they forward it to me @ baileyk80@s... ? My mother-in-law seems to think that just because a place is clean that it is also sterile. I want that list to show her that even some of the most sterile places can still harbor Pseudomonas. > > Thanks, > Katy > mom to Austin 4 no CF & Piper 1 year w/CF > > > > Katy > Mom to Austin 4 no CF & Piper 1 w/CF > >
Guest guest
According to my microbiologist husband...pseudo is EVERYWHERE. We talked to the doc aboutthat and pretty much, he said that kids get colonized just when they get colonized. There are some factors that seem to make them more prone to get colonized early. Like things like early rsv infection, or lung damage from something else, some think staph keeps pseudo at bay, other think it makes for a cozy environment for the pseuedo to move in. Same with S. Maltophilia. Also, viral infections can cause increased mucus in the lungs, w hich makes for a nice and cozy environment for that pseudo. So there alot of factors,a nd mostly, they are kid based. All three of my kids have pseudo, but they all three have different strains of pseudo, with diff. resistence patterns, etc; hence, they did not catch it from one another. Another family told us that the doc actually used us as an example of how he doesn't think pseudo is as prone to being passed from kid to kid as say, cepacia is.... just some thoughts....
