Guest guest
So nice to have you Larry and Suzanne. As for the supplements, check out www.pecanbread.com and click on supplements. Perhaps you can find something there that will work for you. It is a very extensive list. Charlene UC 8years SCD 5 1/2 years Hello All, We are Larry, Suzanne & from Chicago. Suzanne and I adopted from China at 9 months in Nov 2003. We've had many concerns about her slow development and finally started biomedical treatment in January of this year. We have been GF/CF since Feb. and did not see a huge improvement in her condition although her bumpy skin improved initially. I attended the culinary delights pre-conference day at AutismOne and was very impressed by Jody Goddard's presentation of the SCD diet and the demos of recipes that followed. My wife and I are preparing to implement the diet as soon as we speak to our DAN doctor and find replacements for two of the illegal supplements that we are using. We have been testing a number of the recipes from presentation and our daughter has been eating them. She especially enjoyed the banana pancakes. We look forward to everyone's support and hope we can offer some ideas as we gain experience on this diet. Guest guest
Dear Larry and Suzanne, WELCOME to your journey to healing your sweet daughter! If I had received THREE suggestions in the beginning of our SCD TM journey, these THREE would have been the MOST HELPFUL: 1) Do the SCDiet as outlined in the BTVC book first, before you think that you need other biomedical interventions such as enzymes or other supplements are needed. 2) When SCD is done correctly, anti-fungals and chelation is not needed for some of us (never know until you try). 2) Also try to trust the yogurt. We too came GFCFSF and grain free. Completely paranoid about the casein. Thanks to the 24 hour ferment (using allowable starters only), our family discovered that what Elaine said about the casein being denatured, and not causing a problem, was true. Our DAN! didn't even know this. The probiotics in a batch of SCD yogurt was the key to our breaking the vicious cycle in our home. A true God send to everyone, especially our developmentally delayed and autistic daughter. We thought we had to do a " dairy free " SCDiet....and we didn't. After her first die off she started to try to talk, hugged us, smiled, no more deleriums, and just was so much happier! Our DAN! has been rather impressed by our success of " just " 100% SCDiet (by the book). We use nothing else. Not good for him though, because we don't need him much! LOL! Great success so far! Some suggest doing it with nothing else for 1 month to 3 months, before adding the other DAN! protocol. Like us you may not need it, you can hope! Antoinette and (celiac and improving greatly) parents to -5 (celiac/was adhd and rages), Kiki-2 (celiac/autistic and improving greatly!) and Bubbles -1 (Hyberekplexia and improving greatly) SCD 2/
