Guest guest
Lorilyn, No inflammation was intended. It's just been my experience that many of the kids who end up here have ended up with their gut in worse shape after doing GF/CF, even if they may have improved from removing the offending food. Many end up with more food sensitivities, are more self-limiting in their eating habits, and have more imbalance in gut flora, etc. I didn't say for ALL.... I just said for MANY... and I said " worse in the long run " , because that's what the parents report to us here. Don't you wish you could have started with SCD? I in no way meant to discount all the hard work you've done for the last ten years. Patti From GFCF to SCD, was Re: New to group Wow, talk about inflammatory remarks, on a list where many came from GFCF before SCD! I would assume that the kids made worse by GFCF were kids who ate an imbalanced, high carb version of it. I tell people that GFCF removes certain proteins that are especially troublesome when maldigested, while SCD is said to actually correct the maldigestion. My son has been GFCF and then some, for nearly 10 years, but it is the " with no end in sight " part of that diet that has us trying SCD a second time. In other words, he certainly got better with GFCF, but I want him better still. Lorilyn, in Temecula Now on SCD attempt #2 Day 9, after a disastrous 3 week SCD trial of a high egg/nut/oxalate version in April 2005; still GFCF so far, since August 1996 Welcome to the list. Consider yourself lucky that you didn't actually do the GF/CF diet before SCD. For many kids, it has actually made things worse in the long run. You might think of SCD as " this crazy diet " right now... but before long, you'll be thinking of the " Standard American Diet " of processed, refined starches and sugars, damaged fats, chemicals and additives as a VERY crazy diet, compared to the oh-so-sane common sense of SCD.
