Guest guest
Hi Kim, I know today is a big day for you and I hope everything goes well on your end. When you get to the e-mails read this one and let me know what you think Some questions: we have started the lema oil infusions/inhalations, twice a day. For example while she was doing the vest this morning I placed a pot with the infusion close to her the whole room had an aroma of the forest after it rains. She actually likes the smell, specially after I told her it can help her keep healthy. The question is: in your opinion is twice a day ok or maybe once a day. I have saved some of the e-mails were you had written about your experiences with and some are 3 times a week and I think on another occasion he did it every other the day, so I am thinking twice a day is a little too much. On the magnesium, this pills are big, is there any kind of the chelated that you know of that she can chew? I think grinds the ones that she gives to Liam on yogurt, but a will not go for that, unfortunaly she hates yogurt. I am like the guy from my big fat greek wedding, yogurt is good for everything. She is doing really well, she has a perennial cough that gets worst around certain places so I feel like some allergens are at work there, plus she does have some damaged to her lungs, the doctor says is very small, nonetheless. We do the machine twice a day, sick or not sick and she rarely has any mucus, she is very active, too. This season she is playing volleyball and soccer, so everyday she has practice. She takes Singulair, Clarinex, multivitamin with extra C, and Advair 500, I am sorry am taking so long but I want to get her ready for the winter, when all the bugs are at their pick. She does pulmozyme, I had her doing Xophenex, but she said there was no difference in her breathing and her pic flow has been good without it, so we stop the xophenex, at the end of april. I apologize for the lenght of this e-mail but I just want your opinion. Thank you Kim, mom of a 10 wcf, Venanzio 7 nocf, Pepe 3 nocf

Guest guest
Hi , You are so sweet to think of us today, thank you. It's already been a freaky morning. I'm glad a likes the Lema scent. I like your description of a forest after the rain. What a nice aroma! It would seem so healing to just close your eyes and imagine sitting on a bed of pine needles in a lush, quiet forest glistening with raindrops. As for the essential oil inhalations, I think I know where the confusion lies. When first began using essential oils to get rid of the aspergillus and S. maltophilia, he inhaled the vapors once a day for three days in a row (Days 1-3). But on Day 4, he was too tired so he skipped it. He inhaled again on Days 5-6, then he dropped back so he was only inhaling the vapors about three days a week (every other day). But soon he resumed the once-per-day-every-day inhalations because he made himself the subject of an experiment for his biology class. He had to choose a topic and prove or disprove his hypothesis. He knew if he wanted to prove that tea tree oil would get rid of his aspergillus then he should show a consistent treatment method. We will never really know whether his " hit or miss " approach or once-a-day inhalations killed the organisms. But the hypothesis for his biology paper was that taking magnesium AND inhaling tea tree oil would kill off the bugs. And he proved his hypothesis correct. Personally, I think if you are trying to kill off some bugs now or reduce their numbers, then it's fine for a to start off inhaling the Lema vapors once-per-day for about 7-10 days, then taper down to three days a week for a couple weeks (so total treatment length is 3-4 weeks, much like inhaled or IV antibiotics). I don't know what a cultures in her lungs right now. After this first month of trying Lema --- whenever she is well, you may not need or want to do inhalations three days a week, maybe just a weekly ritual. This weekly ritual could be a nice mother-daughter time. While she is inhaling the Lema oil, you could polish each others' toenails and fingernails, experiment with different facial masques and give foot massages. My daughter and I loved doing these things together, and spending this time together balanced the time I spent solely with because of doing his CPT (the vest wasn't available when he was growing up, and he doesn't want one now). If you make these things pleasant rituals, then a will always have fond and comforting memories, and later when she is an adult, whenever she smells the Lema scent, she will think of you and the lovely time you spent with her. Our sense of smell is our strongest of the five senses. This is why when you smell certain things you are immediately transported to a memory. That's why so many people dislike hospitals; the smell doesn't remind them " this is clean and sanitary " rather it reminds them of times they felt pain, frightened, lonely, or loss of control. A couple weeks ago, started taking alfalfa tablets because they are rich in vitamin K. He opened the bottle and we took a big whiff, and we were both suddenly reminded of his dad and the dairy farm -- because his dad grows alfalfa to feed the cows, and after cutting and chopping the alfala it's stored in large silos. His dad would walk in the back door every night after feeding the cows, smelling heavy of moist alfalfa. Anyway, for now a sounds fine and healthy, but I understand you want her strong for this school year and winter. You will know by the color and consistency of her mucus when trouble is growing, and then you will certainly want to do daily inhalations. ( -- what do you think about this protocol?) About 1 1/2 years ago, we discussed on the crataegus list about the possibility of organisms becoming resistant to essential oils. contacted an internationally known aromatherapy expert in Florida, who consulted with another expert in Australia, and it was reassuring having their input about safety. Just checking -- you said she takes a multivitamin with extra C. Does this multi also contain minerals? Can a swallow pills at all? If so, you might try cutting the magnesium into half or thirds. Guest guest
Kim, I had written this long letter and my computer locked! Computers, can live with them, can't live without them, at least is not a virus. But, what I had written was that we do not know what a grows because the time that she was diagnosed in May 2002, the doctor that we saw at the CFF did not order a culture, she was very sick, pneumonia, collapsed lung, awful. By the time we got to Dr. Hanissian she had been on cipro and he did order a culture but it came back with only good flora, of course the cipro had killed or was in the process of destroying the bad stuff. Since then she had a couple of nose colds and a touch of bronchitis and she responded well to regular antibiotics. I do not remember what else I wrote, you know you hit forty everything goes to pots, he, he. Love to you and your family, I hope whatever is found today with Larry, at least the doctors will be able to keep him confortable. mom of 3 lovely kids(when they are sleeping),the oldest with cf > Hi Kim, > > I know today is a big day for you and I hope everything goes well on > your end.
