Hey group: I have a son, 6 years old, moderate ASD. We have been

doing biomed just over a year, however, during this biomed time, we

havent done any diet. We tried the GFCF diet and we noticed changes

within the first month, however, we had a tough time sticking with it

due to our son being in school full time and at daycare before/after

school so that I can work full time and get health insurance.

Well, as you all probably figured out, we havent seen many

improvements with biomed. A good friend of mine reminded me that

DIET is like a good foundation, and we wouldn't build a house without

a good foundation, like a diet.

I am in the process of getting a medical leave of absense from my

employer. I will have 4 weeks to be home with my son 24/7, which I

need to get this diet started. I have the BTVC book and have read

it, but have some questions/concerns:

First, when reading another site, someone brought up the

question, " which diet should we try...GFCF or SCD? " Many wrote in

to say that the SCD was a " healing diet " and would heal their childs

gut. But, what I was AMAZED at was how these parents wrote in to say

that the diet isnt hard, that the GFCF diet was harder. For

SCDiet..they just ate good, whole foods. On the GFCF diet..they

tried to replace their kids favorite foods which always tasted like

crap. (sorry).

So, I am ready go give this SCDiet a go. Can someone explain and/or

provide any really good recipes for their favorite foods? Pancakes?

Breads? Dinners? Our son is addicted to carbs - go figure, and

sugar...so this will be a tough withdrawl.

Finally, here are some of my son's worst issues, I am hoping the diet

will help with....he always has yeast and/or clostridia. His

behaviors are the worst part of his symptoms...he has verbal and

visual stims. He is practically unteachable as his ADHD symptoms are

worse than his autistic symptoms.

Please......any good advice is appreciated. I am assuming I can go

to whole foods for most of the stuff I need to shop for?
