Guest guest
Tammy- I did have an attorney representing me for the appeal, but truthfully, I am not pleased with their representation. It was the firm that the PAI had used to give us Social Security Disability discussions in the chat room a year or so ago. One of their attorney's was a guest at a few of our chats and there was much talk that this firm would be helpful with any of our member's applications. So this was the firm that I called last fall when I decided to appeal the first denial. I feel they should have made sure that the hospital records from October were part of my total package submitted for review. The day I got out of the hospital I called them with all the information, name of hospital, dates of admission, address, etc. I had a very hard time recovering from that attack and was in bed the good part of four weeks afterward. Since they said they would do all the follow up, I assumed that the records had been collected. Even though they said they would take care of it, obviously it wasn't done. That was really all they had to do on this appeal, since all the other records and physician's names and addresses were part of my original application. The records from the surgeon who was brought in and consulted with me were also not included, and this, too, was information that I had submitted to the law firm. So I can't see where they did anything at all. I need to talk to them Monday and ask them what they actually did, and explain to them that if they aren't going to follow through with the information I give them, that I'm going to hire someone else who will. The reason I hired them was to do all this followup and make sure it gets to SSDI. I can't do a lot of that myself if I'm laid up in bed or too sick to drive around half the time. I don't know how to go about firing them and hiring someone else, but I need to do whatever's necessary to get aggressive representation. Thanks for the attorney's info. I wish I could find someone that one of the other member's had already used and felt comfortable with, and had success with! With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
