Guest guest
Hi Rhonda, Do yourself a favor and fly. Why put yourself through such stress if you don't have to? Especially right before this life-changing surgery! Check out Southwest Airlines--they are cheap. Then rent a car. Think of it as a splurge that you and your mental state are worth!!!! Guest guest
I was reading post and something just occured to me. I've been so consumed by this surgery this just clicked with me and now I can feel myself finding something else to worry about. My husband and I decided we would drive to Durham (I wanted to fly)because it would be cheaper and we would have a vehicle when we get there. I am not a good traveler. I get anxiety and panick attacks when I have to go on long trips in a vehicle. I am usually good for about 2 hours before I start having problems. I was wondering how big of a city Durham is. My hardest times are in heavy traffic. It doesn't really matter how long I have been in a car if we are in heavy traffic, I panic. This has been a problem for me for many years. It has never really been fun for me to go on vacations because I really dread the drive so much. I would usually rather stay home if I can't fly, but staying home isn't an option. I want this surgery. I just need to plan ahead to find out if there is anything I can do to help myself before hand. I have tried all the things normally suggested. They do not work for me. I can not read or sleep while riding, I can't relax enough to do it and driving myself doesn't help. I'm to scared to drive in mountains. I don't know if there is any kind of medicine that I can take or not. I have taken Paxil for it in the past, but it really didn't seem to help that much. Anyone have any other suggestions. I was just wondering how much traffic there would be in Durham. Heck, who knows, this surgery seems to do so many wonderful things, maybe somehow it will work its magic on that problem for me too. What do ya think, Dr. R? Rhonda from Indiana
