Guest guest
Hi , From what I understand (although this is somewhat controversial too) is that gallbladder disease is a very common cause of acute pancreatitis attacks. There are many journal articles that are written trying to explain this association. The thinking is that the stones, or sludge either cause duodenal enzymes to back flow into the pancreas thus causing an attack by having activated enzymes where they shouldn't be; or the stones / sludge blocks the sphincter and causes pressure in the pancreatic duct and then you have the attacks somehow happening from that (obstructive pancreatitis). I could be wrong but I think gall bladder disease is the number two (maybe even number one) cause for acute pancreatitis attacks - and that there are a number of people with GB problems that present first with pancreatitis as opposed to biliary colic attacks. I am just giving you this information so you can become more optimistic!!!! Maybe do a google search for pancreatitis then subsearch for gall stones or biliary sludge or microlithiasis or gall bladder disease and you may find some information that may make you more encouraged!
