Guest guest
Hi everyone! Does anyone know if there is any significance to a radiology report that states there is evidence of dorsal duct sludge and / or debris filling defect seen? The reason I ask, is that I am wondering if this sludge / debris that was found during my stent removal could cause the stent or the duct to become clogged or sluggish enough to increase the my pain level (obstruction type pain). At the time that this stent was removed, the doctor opted to not continue with my stent series because he determined that I was not getting significant pain relief to risk more stents. My questions are: 1. is the appearance of the sludge / debris indications that the stent was doing damage to the pancreas? 2).could this debris cause the increasing pain that I was feeling the last ten days that the stent was in? 3). is there a chance that the debris is still there and if so, could it be causing the ongoing pain since the last stent? 4). is the debris significant in other ways that I am not thinking of (signs of infection, inflammation, pseudocyst?)? It seems that the endoscopist is either unaware that the sludge was there at the time of removal (his operative report states that the ducts were all normal) or he thinks that this is insignificant (which it very well could be, I know that the significance of biliary sludge in the common bile duct is very controversial). I am sensitive to any perception of " missed " potentially significant findings as I have been a victim of this at least two times in the past and both incidents resulted in serious and / or painful illnesses. I still want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but believe that for my peace of mind, I would like to get answers from anyone who may have personal experience / knowledge of this. It is ok to call me paranoid - but I can't help but wonder if this could explain why he concluded that the stents were not working (while I thought that they were).
