Guest guest
HEIDI, It's me again, (the newbie & former Okie). I read that Don goes to Mayo. Is that the one in Rochester? That's where I go. Just wondered if we see any of the same doctors. I see Utz (Pulmonary), Kalra (Pulmonary), Michet (Rheumatology) and Mattison (Rheumatology). Dr. Michet is my favorite and knows so much about RP. Plus he always smiles and reassures me that I can get through this. Dr. Michet has also mentioned a female patient from New Mexico whom he has treated for RP for 10 years. He tells me about some of her accomplishments which is very encouraging. Is anyone in this group a female from New Mexico who sees Dr. Michet from Mayo????? I would love to chat with her. Wow Well Hallo everyone !!! Yup, just little old worn out me. LOL Gee do I need a vacation !!!!!! Do you all realize I have been off work for 1 year now and have worked harder then when I was working. I need a job !!! Kathleen and everyone else here just a little note here about stomach problems. Don Dr. and the Mayo Clinic rules are PROTEC THE STOMACH BEFORE THE PROBLEMS COME ON !!!!!!! Don has been and always will be on Stomach Medicine. Don takes Ibuprofen, Prednison for his RP. Nasty stuff we know. His Stomach Medicines are 2x a day Prilosec and 4x a day Cytotec 100mg.Plus he takes 2 tablets of Tums 3 x a day. That is also good for the Calcium he needs. So please Everyone you all need to talk to your Dr. and tell him that you have to have this in order NOT to get any problems. I knew you would love Dr. Buckner everyone that ever has been there just loves her. She sure is a caring DR. I am so happy she will be your Dr. Just wish everyone could have her. I been training Don's Dr. over the years and yes he is getting some what better. He still does not like me to well but what the heck all I want from him is for him to do right with Don. And since I learned so much from the group I can and Do call him on the carpet now and then. After all I am paying his Salary. And we do need to work together here. And I did tell him that too. Guest guest
Carol: re: Im from Minnesota and was just wondering. I have a > good rumey I THINK LOL but was wondering if I should > get any info from Mayo. My Mayo rheumatologist is Clement Michet, Jr, M.D. and his disease specialty is RP. He's also well-published on the subject. I was impressed because he has seen many RP patients for treatment. He could answer all of my questions with confidence and offer advice based on experience, not guess work. My rheum. last year had seen only one case 15 yrs. ago. Because my insurance changed, I had to select a new Dr. who has actually treated one patient with RP (she moved on because of insurance, also). But I'm glad I am seeing him because he knows more than just how to pronounce poly-chond-ri-tis! My first visit with him was just yesterday (1/11) to get acquainted, but he bombarded me with all of the right questions about my condition, set up our routine visits, advised me on what to do when a flare occurs, and stated that he planned to discuss my case with his partner in case of an emergency. He also knows and approves of my local pulmonologist and made sure they were on staff at the same hospitals since I have more pulmonary involvement than anything else. I'm very pleased so far. My experience with Mayo has been very good because they put me through so many tests to establish base line measurements to check against. As I read from others in this group who have had or are having tests, I was lucky that mine have been done and I, as well as all my local doctors, have full written reports for future reference. It's a 6 1/2 hour drive for us, but well worth it. JUST my opinion. Wow > > > > > > Well Hallo everyone !!! > > > > Yup, just little old worn out me. LOL Gee do I > > need a vacation !!!!!!
