Hi Everyone--just wanted to let everybody know that I'm home from the

hospital. Dr. Rutledge wanted to keep me another day, just to be

safe, but I promised him that I would get my prescriptions filled

TODAY and also, should something happen, I will come straight back to

Durham Regional, insurance be damned. See, Dr. R is part of my

insurance network, but not DRH. The insurance only covered it for

the MGB cause that's the only place Dr. R works. When I got sick, it

didn't seem to have anything to do with the MGB, so I went to an ER

that my insurance covers. The first time, they sent me home. Which

isn't so bad, cause Dr. R wasn't TOOOOOOO very concerned at that

time. My temp was only 102, and I wasn't having ANY other symptoms.

When I called him early on Monday and reported a temp of up to 104,

with pain in my left side, he wanted me to come to DR then, but I

didn't think my insurance would pay, so I went elsewhere. Dr. R said

to have them call him and he'd tell them what tests to run. After

being in the ER for 12 hours, a doctor FINALLY told me that, after

speaking with Dr R, he would recommend that I go to DR, which Dr R

also wanted. Apparently, he wasn't very impressed with this

hospital's ER, cause that was a condition of coming home today--that

I come straight back if I have any problems! Dr. R had me on IV anti-

biotics within minutes of arriving at DR. The next morning the test

I needed was done -- YUCK!!!!! -- and a leak was ruled out. Anyway,

massive infection inside, apparently at the surgery site. Not Dr.

R's fault, nothing I did wrong (although I DID go to the gym for the

first time on Friday--maybe THAT caused it....perhaps I shouldn't

exercise....)...just happened. Second hand info here, but might be

helpful...a doctor at the ER told me that Dr. R told him that a leak

can easily look like pneumonia in that area--but I don't know for

SURE that Dr. R said that! Just something to be aware of.

BTW--they don't change the flavor of jello until they run out....or

maybe they just bring you the same bowl until you actually eat it--I

got the yellow crap 3 times in a row....
