Guest guest
Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there has had the MGB and took fen-phen at one time. Did you have any problems? Thanks, Pam North Carolina

Guest guest
Hi Pam, I took the dreaded fen-phen and ended up with a mitral valve prolapse and treatment resistant major depression which is also associated with mitral valve prolapse. I had an echo-cardiogram and sent the results in my packet to Dr. R. From now on if I am having any type of invasive procedure including teeth cleaning and major surgery I must have treatment with antibiotics prior to the procedure. I had my MGB on 5-31-00 and did just fine. I hope you have no problems. If you want to talk to me call me next week at 817/ 577-0919 or e-mail me privately because I'm going to be gone a few days. Guest guest
Hey, Genz! I have never heard of treatment resistant depression...what does it have to do with mitral valve prolapse? I would love to hear more on this subject because I have MVP and also have suffered from clinical depression. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Marg, I also took phen fen and they do an echocardiogram to check out your valves, mine came back with some leakage, but they said I was too obese to get good pictures. My cardiologist cleared me for surgery with no problem. Regards Marjory 8/30/00 > Hi Genz, how did you know you had the mital value problem? I took fen-phen on > and off for 2years. Guest guest
Hi marjory, That is so sad, are you in that lawsuit they have against the drug company? Did you have a problem with pain in your chest or anything or did they just do the echocariogram because you were on the drugs? I paid alot of money for those drugs and the clinic I went to to get them, only to find out that they were so bad for us. I am glad at least it hasn't kept you from having this surgery. take care Marg

Guest guest
Hi Marg, No I am not in the lawsuit, why bother, like T said I would probably get a dollar, and then have to prove it was caused by fen phen. I was having an irregular heart beat at the time so they were just doing routine tests. I am ready to come to Durham next week, just need to shop for supplements, that's the easy part. I found another person from Ca in the group yesterday. Her name is , I am happy to have somebody else from my state. Although we can't be bamababes, we can be the California girls like the beach boys sang about. Is anyone else on the 30th? Have a Fun Weekend!
