Guest guest
Hi all, Have a question. Can anyone tell me if you think you have a flare can it go away without going back on Predizone. I think I might be getting one in my right ear. Am on 2 1/2 mg of predizone now but am wondering if I should call Dr and have him up it. Darn, I was just getting down on the pred too!!!!!! __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Carol, Gosh that isn't fair at all. A flare can go away without the pred but it can cause damage too. The pred is what keeps the imflamation down and that is the part that causes the damage. Remember this is just my two cents worth. If I were you and knew I was flaring I would call the Dr. and see what he said. Please take care Lots of Love Glenda Hi all,Have a question. Guest guest
Hi Carol, Darn, so sorry to hear your ear is flaring. Both my PCP and my rhuematologist have told me to up the prednisone when I start to get a flare up on the ear or nose, it will help make the flare settle down faster and it won't cause as much damage to the cartiledge. Don't want to have that. The rheumatologist recommended 60 mgs of pred tapering down during an ear or nose flare. You probably don't want to hear this, but thought I would pass it on to you. Maybe some others will have further recommendations. My doctor pretty much figured I would follow his guidelines for a flare up, but if I were down to 2 and 1/2 mgs of pred. I would have a hard time making the decision to up it to 60 again. Probably the best thing to do would be to check with your doctor and see what he thinks. I raised my pred to 15mg and it stopped the flare, then came back down by lowering 1mg every week. I am only at 9mg now. will lower next week. Usually I lower at 1mg a month, but when I raise it for a short period I come down a little faster to my normal dose. Please check with your doctore and see what he suggests. Everyone is different.
