She suggested doing a water exerecise class, such as the PACE program (People with Arthritis Can Exercise) with the arthritis foundation. It is geared toward people with joint pain and weakness, so it would be good to start with. I know that to get better I have to start exercising those muscles. Perhaps a referral to a physical therapist would be a good idea. It is unbearable, because when it starts, it keeps going until I have to lay down, or sit down at least. Using a wheelchair at malls and at the airport helps me be more successful, but I'm getting better at walking a little more. It's a vicious cycle! Good luck!
