Guest guest
Does anyone know whether or not the Shriners Hospitals of Children offer orthopedic services for infants with Plagio? Has anyone delt with them before. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Leila
Guest guest
I'm not sure if they do bands - you could call and ask. My dd went there for her Torticollis - and I saw a baby with a band - just like my dd - but I can't say if they got from Shriners or not - My dd didn't. Guest guest
Well, I guess I got the answer to my own post today. The Shriners Hospital in Erie used to treat babies with Plagiocephaly covering the cost of the helmets but they no longer do so. What they do is give you an honest opinion about whether or not your child needs one. I am saying honest opinion because at my visit with CT this Wednesday, we felt like they were trying to tell us that my DD's case was moderate and needed one while her measurements were only 7mm. Again, I am not a doctor, I am just trying to find out what's best for my DD. I will be posting her pictures from CT under the M album for Maysa. Guest guest
you say her measurements are only 7, that is just the plagio then, your signature says she has brachy as well, what was her index for that? It could be they are talking about her brachy being moderate or they could be taking into account that she has plagio, brachy and tort so together they feel her risk falls more into the moderate catagory. Do yuo have a hanger or starband provider locally where you could get a 2nd opinion and/or measurement. We got measurements from CT and Hanger and theyw ere VERY different, we got a 15, 15 and 17 from CT and a 2 from Hanger. We decided that since 2 was near perfect there is no way that was right and add other issues and we went with CT, I did wonder if they just say they need the band b/c they have a vested interest but in the end I thought for sure they would recommend a 2nd band and they did NOT, they anticipated his measurements coming down to around an 8 and they came down furthur than that, to a 4, 5 and 6 and he had major improvement but still is far from perfect so cant see how he was said to be a 2 before b/c he isnt even that now. That was just our CT though but they could have easily taken us for a 2nd band, we would have agreed and they didnt so I have decided they must not be that money grubby lol On Fri, Jun 20, 2008 at 9:51 AM, L R <leilarem@...> wrote: Well, I guess I got the answer to my own post today.
