Guest guest
Welcome, ... SCD is not technically a dairy-free diet. Some parents feel they want to eliminate all dairy in the beginning, although many ASD kids can tolerate SCD goat yogurt and goat cheeses after a while. Obviously, if your daughter absolutely can't tolerate even the SCD-legal forms of goat dairy, you would want to make sure her diet included other calcium rich foods (almonds, broccoli, etc.) or use a supplement. Absorbability is key... especially with a damaged gut, so you'd want to find a supp (without illegal additives) that was highly absorbable. Patti, mom to Katera New to Diet - Question about calcium We are just starting the diet for our daughter (3), after being cf/gf for 3 months with no results/changes. I am concerned about a lack of calcium in the diet because of the no dairy (we were using rice milk on the gf/cf diet). Do most people use a supplement? Thanks! , mum to 3 year old girl with ASD (severe) and global delays
Guest guest
Hi ; I also have a severely autistic 3 yo daughter. My whole family has been following dairy-free SCD for a month now. We are using Kirkman Calcium Powder with Vitamin D. I buy the big tub and everyone in the family takes some daily.
