I just got iFlora Acidophilus Formula from a Lyme doctor, which is

she assured me is SCD-compliant and she thinks it's the best probiotic.

(I'm taking it because I'm on antibiotics for Lyme.) It's from

sedonalabs.com but you have to buy it from a reseller. I notice it's

$22.46 for 60 capsules from

http://www.affordable-natural-supplements.com/sedona_labs.html whereas I

paid $25 for it at the doctor's office (but there was no tax or shipping

added to that).

We believe the SCD is allowing Sam to absorb nutrients for the first time in

years, therefore helping his body begin to do the healing work. Before we order

more tablets, we will have him retested to see how far he has come. We are

convinced that the Lyme Disease was the original illness that led to digestive

problems and Crohns-type symptoms. (Most of our medical doctors were just

wanting to treat the symptoms.) Our naturopath told us that Sam has just moved

from survival to being able to heal. We expect it to take time and plan to stay

on SCD strictly.

Thanks - Diane, Sam's mom Lyme's Disease, 12 yrs, Crohns' type symptoms, 18

months, SCD 4 months, no meds

My daughter Lilya (pronounced Lily-uh) will turn four in April. She was

" different from the beginning " after a medically-mismanaged birth and short

intensive care stay. I didn't know enough to recognize the early signs of

autism, but I knew just enough to do some things right, like not feed baby

cereal and avoid most vaccinations; otherwise I think she would have been

severely autistic from her early months. She regressed at about 12 months but

with help from alternative practitioners she stopped regressing and started

progressing again at 14 months. At about 22 months we had a phone consult with

Dr. Natasha -McBride and started SCD. SCD and supplements have helped a

lot, but we are continuing to struggle with gut healing and related health

issues complicated by Lyme Disease (and co-infections) and a collagen formation

problem (which I'll post about next under subject line " Bruising, nosebleeds,

etc. " ). Lilya's development in most areas is close enough to normal now that

most people think she's just extremely shy.

Thank you for your post, Kayla. My 12 yr. old son is also recovering from ASD

and Lyme's diagnosis... He's been on various rotating antibiotics for about a

year, along with Samento (cat's claw) and Diflucan (now weekly). How do you know

when the Lyme's is gone?

Agape,

The Lyme Disease issue came up because a list member was just diagnosed with it.

Lyme disease is a serious illness transmitted by tick bite, has nothing to do

with having an IBD or being on the SCD per se, the problem is one must take

antibiotics at the onset to get rid of lyme disease and on the

SCD one prefers not to take antibiotics if avoidable - it can not be avoided

with lyme disease. I think the SCD is a good diet for anyone, even if they're

perfectly healthy, and that just about anyone dealing with an illness couldn't

go wrong by going on it as they would be eating good nutritious digestible food.

IMO the SCD is advisable for anyone with any digestive disfunction

which is something that may accompany lyme disease. All the same, the SCD is

not indicated for treatment of lyme disease at least thus far. God Bless, Penny

*May I put your name Liinda and e-mail address on the list of those living

w/Lyme Disease so that after you have been on the SCDiet for a year you can help

others in your area to find doctors, foods, stores, encouragement, and SCD

information
