Guest guest
I feel like an idiot. I feel like I triggered a flare in after being one year in complete remission. My dh and I have had some gut problems that have come on slowly since was first diagnosed with ulcerative colitis 3 yrs ago. All the diaper changes and accidents we've cleaned up over the years might have passed on some pathogen to us. We are both on a colon cleanse that includes a pretty strong multi-herbal supplement (simmilar to citracidal plus), along with fiber and a tea. I, personally, have loved the program and am pleased with results. Well, they make a jr version of the herbal - which is anti parasitic - and has no illegals in it. It's much milder than, say, Citracidal Plus (which we used during joel's last major flare), and because, though in remission, he's was still very sensitive to legal carbs. I started giving him the formula with no problems for a couple of weeks. Then all of a sudden, I started seeing a little mucous and a little blood on the toilet paper. After a few days of this I got paranoid and took him off the stuff. It's now progressed in to 3-4 mushy stools a day, a little blood in toilet, and the all too familiar urgency. Tonight he passed a ton of green mucous as well. I could just cry and let's just say it was a hard lesson learned - if it ain't broke, don't go trying to fix it. I know steroids would help - since he's been on SCD they do work now where they didn't work at all pre-scd but boy i'd like to avoid that route. Any suggestions? We're going on intro for next few days, without fruit, but other than that, I'm not sure if there is anything I can do on my own. I could just cry I'm so upset... thanks for letting me ramble and any advice or encouragement is welcome. Robbie
