Hi and Dr. Rutledge;

Sounds like time for someone in the area to do a little research.... I'll

call each of those offices Monday and find out exactly which surgeries each

of the mentioned Physicians perform and report it back to the list, Dr.

Rutledge, and to Melinda.

As far as I know the mentioned surgeons do the lap RNY. I also know that

for some reason the duodenal switch seems to be very popular in this area.

(Portland/Vancouver) I was thinking of it myself, but decided that

uncontrollable diarreah (sp) and nasty flatulence weren't what I wanted.

UGH! What really changed my mind was the death of a friend here in

Portland... which I found out, after the fact, was due to massive blood loss

during the D/S.

My personal opinion is that, even if by some small chance, one of them is

doing the MGB, I would STILL fly to Durham to dance with Dr. R. I care

enough about my health and life to choose the surgeon with the most

experience and best success record to do major lifesaving surgery... and not

be a guinea pig. I guess I've worked too long in the ER and ICU to have a

passive trust in unknown ability.... pardon the cynicisim. *grin*
