Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am interested in the present debate about calcium supplements. I had already been on calcium supplements for a little while before my CP diagnosis. I have osteopoenia, the precursor to osteoporosis. My CP symptoms go back 53 years! When I heard that I had calcifications in the pancreas, I asked whether or not I should continue to take my supplements. My calcium levels are low, not high. My gastro told me the calcifications were not connected with calcium supplements and I should continue to take the supplements. I asked my pancreatologist the same question and I received the same answer. He told me my question was an excellent one but that there was no connection between the calcification process in the pancreas and calcium supplements which I still needed. I am somewhat concerned to hear different opinions from different medics but I suppose : (a) every case is different ( medical opinion differs I shall have to do some research now. On the other hand, it is known that calcium supplements can be hard on anyone's digestion and can cause abdominal discomfort in anyone. I MUST look into this. Thanks everyone for bringing up this matter. With good wishes, Fliss
