What is the very first step I should take on this road? Talk to the insurance (I don't trust 'em and would rather not!); fill out the Doc's on-line form? ? ? 2. Since you have been in my shoes, what is your opinion of what my dad said. Is it true? Am I just kidding myself thinking some man would love me for all my " inner beauty? " I suppose it's silly to ask, especially if I can have the surgery, but I would like another point of view! Thanks! >> Hi: If you haven't already, go to clos.net, Dr. Rutledge's website, and read up everything there. It tells you how to get started with all of this. Many of us have had the surgery because of disease caused by morbid obesity - " co-morbidities " . Diabetes and sleep apnea are a few of those. We probably all want to look better after the surgery. I'd be lying to you if I said I didn't. At age 45, there are a few other things that take precedence over appearance. Being able to walk for more than 10 minutes without getting winded would be among them. I don't think I'd like to comment on your daddy's opinion of fat women.
