High protein and ammonia levels

My son has high ammonia in his blood which means that he is fighting yeast

toxins. As well, maybe it is the high protein in his SCD diet.

Does anybody have experience with this? Should I try and gut back the

protein. My son eats lots of meat and eggs. He is not allowed milk and milk

products so I give him Almond yoghurt. He eats eggs and then more eggs in

banana pancakes and lots of chicken and beef.

What can I do to get the ammonia down. My DAN says it is too, too high.

Tara,

Don't feed him so much meat, so many eggs and so many nuts. That will

lower his protein intake.

You have to get fruits and veggies into him.

SCD is not meant to be a high protein/low carb diet.

Try using fitday.com to input a typical day's menu and let us know

what you find out. (Total calories, percentage of fat/carbs/protein.)

Hi Tara,

In addition to Jody's suggestions, how about some epsom salt baths

and/or activated charcoal to help remove the yeast toxins.
