Guest guest
I'm going against my GI doctor's wishes and getting the ERCP done, which was the recommendation from Dr. Pappas at Duke. Technically, my GI doctor doesn't know that I'm having the ERCP done. I planned to tell him that I went ahead with the procedure after it was done. I know it sounds like I'm going behind his back, but quite frankly, the GI doctor has drug his feet on this. I need to have more information than a tentative diagnosis, and I really don't have the strength to argue with him. My GI doctor wouldn't return my phone calls for two weeks, and after his nurse said I needed to have patience, I took matters into my own hands. He did not call me about needing more pain medication or anything. He did not return my phone calls until the receptionist told him I was in the office to pick up my records and on the way to Duke. Another week had also passed without hearing from the pain specialist that I was trying to get into to see. Right now, my general condition is worsening. I am very weak, and the pain is excrutiating without pain pills. I run a low-grade fever every day, have the chills and severe nausea. Myabe this isn't the way I should handle it, and I know doctors know more than I, but I feel like the GI doctor is just winging it.
