Guest guest
Hi Mark, I have replied to Rivka re : questions about Creon. I have given the following information. I am not sure if Creon loses its effectiveness over time, but can't see any reason why it should. My pancreatic doctor doesnot believe that there is a maximum dose of Creon. He believes that you take what you need to control your symptoms. Increasing the dose may be beneficial, but should be discussed with a doctor before doing so. My pancreatic doctor also recommends taking Omepraze to reduce the acid in the stomach, and aid the absorption of Creon. There are many different preparations, so if someone is unhappy with Creon, a change may be beneficial, but need to be discussed with a doctor. As Creon is used to treat malabsorption, it can cause weight gain. I hope this is helpful. Also, Mark, pleased to see you're back in action and hopefully feeling much better. Best wishes. I have a person who wrote to me on the top5plus5 forum and I am unsure how to answer him. Could anyone who can answer this question please go there and post a response to him.....thanks in advance...his message is as follows: > > Thanks for your prompt answer.I have been over 10 years on the enzyme substitute Creon, and find that the effectiveness has diminished. As a result i have a lot of " bacteria overgrowth " which is the undigested food. That o vergrowth causes awful sideeffects. The only way it can be treated according to my doctors here is thru constant use of anti biotics. I have been on and off all kinds of anti biotics since last year. They help to a certain extend but of course it is something serious to do. Is it possible that the creon loses its effectiveness, is there a maximum amount you are allowed to take, should I up the dosage? Is there something else to enable the digestion BEFORE it turns into undigested bacteria? I have tried diets, I am off gluten which made it worse but don't seem to find a way off the antibiotics. Can the creon cause my weight gain, although I don't eat much? > Thanks for your help! Guest guest
You aren't nuts at all...I have 3 daughters ages 19 16 and 8.....There are so many times that they drive me crazy..but for the most part they are great kids...hopefully they will read the info and have a better understanding.....If I can ever do anything to help you, please let me know I hope this finds you and yours well Mark E. Armstrong casca@... www.top5plus5.com PAI NW Rep ICQ #59196115 Mark thank you Mark sharing the article " Dealing with Chronic Pain " . I printed it out and left a note for everybody to read it. I hope they do and are able to understand it. Especially the part about keeping relaxed; I want them to understand the need for a calm emvironment and my not getting stressed about anything. Today was a nightmare of chaos; or just too many microdramas. Well maybe the article will help them to undersstand " NO I am not making up all this stuff; see its written right here;I'm not nuts " That we all would feel better in a more calm environment. I wonder if I can even achieve that with 3 kids, and 2 are teenagers. Thanks again, and I am just an teeency weency nuts. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Thanks Mark, I have a daughter who will be 18 on sunday, a son who is 13.5 but he is possessed by a demon and has mutliple personalities, which I think are also demonic. And I have a little girl who is 8; she is my mother's revenge and she never ever ever stops chattering away; yup my mother's revenge. I dont think any body read the article, but there will be a pop quiz tonight. Hope you have a good day. Guest guest
Dear Mark, I hope you feel better very soon. Sorry for you problems you are having. I don't understand what happened with your blood sugar especially after you drank a glass of juice. When you are home and feel like responding please let us know how you are and what happened to you. Love, Shirley
