Guest guest
, I am so afraid that everyone thinks I'm a magnesium freak. But I just can't begin to express how much Solgar's magnesium glycinate has changed our health for the better. Not just my son's health, but especially mine. I wish I'd known about magnesium years ago. Think of the money I would have saved on ER visits and migraine meds. But that's the story of my life -- just before everything falls apart, I'm hit over the head with the answer. When I review the health histories of my son, my daughter and me, everything points to magnesium deficiency. And after researching magnesium DAILY for 19 months now, the one thing that keeps resounding is that the US population doesn't get their minimum daily requirements for magnesium from diet, and most people *don't* take multivitamin/mineral supplements. It's not enough to just take vitamins, you need minerals. I'm really embarrassed to list the health problems I have. In our family we joke that we didn't inherit a gene pool, we inherited a cesspool. Since high school, I've always taken a multi (started off with Centrum), even when no one else in my family did. Heck, in high school, when all the other girls subscribed to " Seventeen " magazine, I subscribed to " American Health. " (Can we say, GEEK?) Anyway, , you mentioned an achy body. Without going into my whole history, if achiness is a problem for you, or stiff hands or knees, etc., you might want to try DHA (omega 3) supplements. When I turned 40 1/2, my health just started going down the tubes. I was under major stress at the time but still eating healthy and race-walking over two miles a day. It was so frustrating! I figured my body's warranty must have run out and the Universe forgot to send a renewal notice! My health continued to decline, and not quietly at all. No, it had to be violent about it. Despite healthy diet and continued exercise, I gained nearly 20 pounds in a year, and suddenly found myself having to go to the ER because my migraines had hit a new torturous level. Imagine not just going to an ER in your hometown, but having to visit one when you're traveling out-of-state. And this wasn't just pain, but nonstop vomiting and hypersensitivity to touch. One doctor put a stethoscope to my chest and suddenly I couldn't breathe because it hurt so bad. Later my neurologist said in extreme migraines, nerve endings in the entire body are hyper, so all senses are extreme. No kidding. Scared poor Bri since he was the one who had to take me to the ER that time. Anyway, in Fall 2000, I added 250 mg. DHA daily and it zapped my body aches and stiffness. Whenever I've run out of DHA, symptoms return in less than two weeks, so I'm sold on it. I use GNC's DHA (not DHEA, which is what most of their sales clerks think you're asking about). And it wasn't until August 2002 when I switched to Solgar's magnesium glycinate that I finally felt normal again. No more insomina, no more debilitating sinus-exploding headaches whenever the barometric pressure suddenly changes, no more IBS!! My IBS had become a serious, chronic issue after having abdominal surgery in Mar. 2001. But now I've kicked it to the curb! And the best thing? I lost all that weight I gained. I still have five pounds to go to get back to the weight I feel best: 122 pounds. And darn, those last five pounds are the hardest when you love sweets as much as I do! But even at five pounds overweight, people think I'm much younger than 45. I find myself explaining that no, I wasn't 15 when was born! Maybe that's the side benefit to the crappy gene pool I have! Kim Kim, I need to start mg also, my work is very stressful. Yesterday I thought I was going to have a melt down and I wanted to eat a whole bag of hersheys chocolate kisses :-). Well, now I see the connection, and to be frank I do not take any supplements. There is a cabinet in my Kitchen full of vitamins that my sister makes me buy when she is here, but as soon as she lives I forget to take the darn things. But as she told me this last time around, my children need a healthy mommy, mind and body, not an achy one ready to chop somebody's head off, lol. Well, again, thank you so much for all the knowledge that you share with us, :-). mom of a 9 wcf, Venanzio 7 nocf, Pepe 3 nocf.
