Guest guest
Hi Shelly, I just got precertified for the hospital. I have Blue Shield so I don't know if it is the same but what I had to do was get a surgery date, and call the (mine says medical management at-------) to obtain the necessary preadmission review. When I finally got transferred to the right dept. they just needed all the info on the surgeon and hospital, name address, and telephone # and the day of surgery and gave me a confirmation # on the phone. They said they would mail it out right away to the hospital. I don't know if this is exactly what you are talking about, but originally I thought the doctor and the hospital did this, but I was wrong. Kind Regards Marjory 8/30/00 > Hi , I am in the same circumstance as you. BCBS has sent out a letter to me as well as Dr R which I will receive any day now. I have had this plan for over 20 years now and I find it and the administrators to honorable and easy to communicate. The hospital is required to get precertification, if they do not then they will be fined or rather they won't receive the same level of payment as usual. This will not penalize you what so ever. As far as precertification for the surgical procedure by DR R.: This is a step that he requires, exactly whay happens after that is any bodies guess. I triend to speak with the person from BCBS of North Carolina (they issue payment rather than your state) but she was busy but I was told that she has seen Dr R patients papers before. Perhaps other Federal BCBS patients can tell us what happens next. Shelly in Jax Fla > > >
