Guest guest
Fliss, We don't have hereditary pancreatitis, although my mother has suffered from it as have I...ours has been caused coincidentally by both of us having the same type of operation due to another hereditary condition...and my brother could be following in our footsteps or worse. Apparently, as my surgeon told me yesterday, he was originally going to perform a whipple on me with my first surgery, but when he saw how small my pancreatic duct was and how soft my pancreas was, he decided to do a different surgery as he was worried I would die after the whipple (higher morbitity? rate because of my underlying FAP illness). I have compiled a list of questions for my brother to ask his surgeon, and also the comments from this site and what my surgeon said about the matter, but my brother said he doesn't know for sure what the doctor found or wants to do, so will have to wait until his next appointment. Thanks for your input
