Guest guest
HI everyone I am new to the group and just starting on SCD. I have 2 children, one 5yrs who is ASD, and one 3yrs who is not, but has big digestive issues, and some manic behaviour problems. We have been GF/CF for 2 1/2 years, and also cut out some foods my son was allergic to. He seemed to be doing really well, but over the last few months the digestive problems are back and I am spending too much time looking into the toilet wondering what on earth is going on. So when the doctor suggested SCD I thought, well I have to try something. I am feeling very daunted at this stage and am not looking forward to the first few days, when I am sure there will be not too much eating and a lot of grumpy. What I wanted to ask is how many of you who were/are GF/CF now use some dairy. I am feeling pretty keen to try (although I guess I will have to wait a few weeks). I put Ewan on goats milk when we went GF/CF originally, before we started rice milk, and to be honest I didn't see any difference changing from goat to rice milk back then. So I was wondering what others have found. Thanks Vonny

Re: Dairy: It is not mandatory We don't use fluid milk but convert goat's milk to home incubated yogurt that consumes the lactose and produces benificial gut flora, a gazillion !! Although dry curd cottage cheese and a little yigurt in cheesecake is allowed early on, the real introduction of tiny amounts of yogurt comes much later. Healing often increaes tolerance. True casein allergy recieives total respect here and you don't lose points for avoiding it. However the health and cognitive benefits of yogurt are high and we encourage those interested to try to incorporate it into the diet.. Guest guest
Dear Vonny, Congratulations on starting SCD! Like many here, we arrived GFCFSF and slowly becoming so allergic to food, where going to become food free! lol.....not so funny though. Now we eat 8 times a day. A big change from everything causing us to feel sick. We can tolerate the goat yogurt well. Please read everything on Pecan Bread about it. Stick to legal foods and go for it! We are having good results, but still healing. Have a ways to go, only 4 months out. This is what brought us: Damaged intestines, leaky gut, a few of us confirmed with celiac disease, add, adhd, autism, bi-polar (manic problems) and hyperekplexia. We are definitely keepers to this SCDiet. All of us doing much better. A happier family. ****What doctor suggested SCD...tell me off serve and I will let Grammy B know, if she has missed this. She keeps track of SCD docs, as referrals for others. Welcome, Antoinette and Family (SCD 2/06)
