Is there a scd friendlier bean than kidney beans? What is a better

alternative?\

Thanks rob's mom

Re: Help! I think kidney beans are causing a major

problem

Kidney beans are hard to digest for some. What one cannot digest

ferments and feeds microbes. Healing the intestine is a step by step

process. Healing will be slowed if eating foods that are indigestable by

the body and feed bodily infections.

6 years old doesn't mean anything in the scheme of getting healthy.

The scripting and all the rest is a tip off for you to address something

he is eating in the diet.

Ladies,

I decided to add a new meal to my sons list of scd foods and

made a legal soup of beef, veggies, and kidney beans. I pre-soaked over

night the beans, rinsed and drained them. The basic soup recipe was

from BTVC. He has been eating this for a few weeks just fine maybe

having it once a day but now he has taken some steps backward. His bm's

are very large and appear to be hard as a rock - clogging our toilet's

several times. Also he's having a bm maybe every 3 days, which seems to

be too long for him to go without having one. He's been scripting,

visual stimming again, appearing to be more in his own world. I get so

frustrated becausw I work so hard at this. I'm hoping that starting

this diet for him at almost 6 years old is not too late for him. Do

most kids recover completely from this diet? Are your kids

recovering/recovered? Is this going to always be such a battle? My son

has been strictly on the diet since 01/20/06 and was gf/cf before that.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Thank you,

Tammy

It doesn't sound like your child is ready for beans yet. It is not about

substituting alternatives, nut flour for wheat flour, beans for beans, its about

only eating what can be digested in the gut, so as to give a bit of room to

start healing and get ahead.

Basically, SCD is a progressive diet, you allow for healing so that you become

more healed to be able to eat more foods.

You have to get a feel for what your child can digest and move on from there.

If you stay in the realm of substitutions, you will continue to take a step

forward, a step back, two forward and one back, instead of step after step

forward.
