You can look Actigal up on the internet. I remember seeing this post about Actigal myself. Hope this helps. Debbie
Guest guest
Yes, it was me Lily. Sorry but I have not been able to get online much. Trying to work fulltime, be a mommy and take care of my dad is my ususal routine. I have taken the Actigal for about 2 years now. It was recommended by Dr. Lehman in Indy. When I went to see him the first time I was of the understandinmg that the sphincter of Oddi is about the size of a pencil lead. The bile that is made in the liver sometimes gets thick, causing stress of the spincter and the ducts , therefore trying to thin the bile gives relief to the liver, sphincter, ducts and pancreas. Also this can have an indirect advantage to slowing down any scar tissue formation. The side effects are quite rare for Actigal. I take a minimum dose of only 300 mg after my evening meal. But initially he ordered 900 mg. ( 3 pills ). There is Actigal and Ursidol ( sp ), one is generic and just as good as the other. There is no real blood test that I am aware of that indicates if you need the bile thinner. I do however have my liver enzumes checked every 4-6 months to make sure that they are OK as recommended in the PDR when you take Actigal or almost any medications, since alot of meds are processed in the liver as well. Hope this helps. I have a co pay of $10.00 but I think out of pocket may be expensive. Take Care, Lily from Ohio Robin - Actigal Robin, you wrote: a six month period also.
