Guest guest
Hello Balaji, I'm sorry you have this illness but you can probably do a great deal to help yourself now. Try not to be scared because every case is different and there are lots of people to help you here! Obviously you need to be working with your doctors and following their advice. First, the NO ALCOHOL rule is absolute if you want to prevent more attacks of acute pancreatitis together with the possibility of developing chronic pancreatitis. Believe me, if you can avoid chronic pancreatitis, it will be worth the effort. Alcohol damages the pancreas even if you don't feel the effects at the time. Even in caes where alcohol is not the cause of the pancreatitis, the rule is always to avoid alcohol at all times. After that, it really depends on what your doctors have actually found and what advice they've given you. What tests have they done? If you can find a good gastroenterologist or pancreatologist, it will be helpful. If your condition is not chronic, you are probably still able to eat normally and have not been prescribed enzymes for malabsorption? If you have no symptoms of malabsorption, that is very positive. If you do have such symptoms (pain, diarrhoea etc.) then you need to discuss them with your doctor. If you look at the PAI links and click on the Top5plus5 link, you will find all the information you need. I do hope you will not have further attacks and I wish you good health. Blessings and best wishes, Fliss
