Guest guest
Hello there, I have no idea whether or not the symptoms you describe could be linked to CT scans. I doubt it but I'd ask the doc if I were you. He or she should know anyway that your husband is having these symptoms. It is always the case that British docs try to keep the CT and MRI scans to a minimum but they always weigh up the risks of the scan against the risks of not having it. It obviously depends on your illness etc. I know my gastro is extremely cautious and does not accept what my pancreatologist said, which is that I could have a scan every 12 months. The gastro thinks that's too often for my particular case. I'll have to hand them the boxing gloves in 12 months time, if I haven't had the TP by then! Actually, they are both wonderful docs and have been fantastic with me. I couldn't have asked for more help or understanding. (For example, I can e-mail my pancreatologist at any time with questions and he replies very quickly.) They both treat me as a human being with both feelings and a brain (of sorts!). They don't patronise me. Neither do they pretend to be gods or infallible. There is obviously simply a difference of professional opinion between them on the matter of scans. Of course, even though they are not 100% accurate by any means, I'd like to have a CT scan as often as I can safely do so. The wife of a colleague of mine has had cancer (not pancreas) and she is allowed a CT scan every six months. Anyway, I won't have to worry about that one for a while now! Best wishes to you Vicky and I hope you get those troubling symptoms sorted out soon. Have a great Christmas! Fliss
