Hi ,

You are right when you stated you through that WV stood for West Virginia and

not Wet Vermont. I have a few questions for you , if you don't mind answering.

What state do you live in?

How long have you had Pancreatitis?

How long how you been married?

Now for your doctor answer, He told you that you had to learn to live with it.

WRONG ANSWER. Your doctor does not know what else to do for you, doesn't mean

that there isn't a doctor out there somewhere that can help you. You can't give

up------this is totally unacceptable. The reason why we have pancreatitis is

because we are very strong people, who can handle it. YES, I do get down all

lot of times, but you are having a major flare up right now and on top of that

you got the News about your father's stroke. No, wonder you can eat, sleep or

get any relief. Your are going thru some MAJOR STRESS, right now. I just came

to realize this past fall, that STRESS is my worse ENEMY. It will cause a flare

up, faster that I can say " Jack Rabbit " . I never realize it until this past

fall, when everything happen to me at once, causing major stress and a bad flare

up. I always felt that stress didn't effect my pancreastitis. I was in total

denial. What you need to do is first find a NEW DOCTOR, one who won't give up

on you. One who is willing to try different things to get you some relief.

Have you ever consider a pain doctor to get some relief from the pain. You are

upset about not working and about having your wife go to work to support you. I

too, was very upset, when I got so bad that I couldn't work any more. My

husband and my doctor told me that was it that I had to give up my job, that I

loved, because the pain had gotten so bad that I couldn't work anymore. It took

me a long time to get to the place that I am at today. It is to just take ONE

DAY, at a time. If your not feeling good today, try and not get too upset over

it, cause tomorrow is a new day and things will get better, honestly. Last

spring, I went thru one of the longest flare up I have had. About 7-8 weeks. I

was in and out of the hospital 3 times for a total of 31 days, and couldn't get

the pain under control. I lost about 25 pounds, cause I couldn't eat anything.

I needed to loose weight, but this was the hard way to do it. Now when I having

a bad day, I try and not get upset about the pain, because being upset will make

the pain worse. I do realize that this is harder to do, than to say to do. I

got rid of my doctors that didn't help and now I got just a Family Doctor, who

has helped me all lot. My old GI, wasn't even helping. so He acted like there

was nothing to do for me, just learn to live with the pain. Sorry, wrong

answer, I didn't need him, so now I don't go to him any more. We must have

hope and finding someone who is will to try and get our pain under control is

the first step. With this dreaded disease, all lot of time 1 step forward and

3 steps backwards and the steps we make forward are generally only baby steps.

You sound like you might be suffering from some depression, due to fact that

your in so much pain and can't get anyone to help. You must get a doctor who is

willing to work with you and not give up on you. I have been where your at more

times than I care to remember, but I now go to a new doctor and I expect to get

nowhere , so when they said there is nothing they can do, I'm not disappointed.

I just check them off the list and tell myself that there is nothing They can do

to help me, but SOMEWHERE or SOMEHOW, someone will be able to help. WE MUST NOT

LET THE DOCTORS GET US DOWN, WE HAVE TO STAND UP AND FIGHT FOR OURSELVES,

BECAUSE THE DOCTORS AREN'T GOING TO DO IT FOR US. I sure that you feel very

overwhelm now with the new about your doctor and getting the news about you dad.

It's too much to handle for one day. You see, you said that your dad was

starting to show signs of recovering and you will too.

You are lucky that you don't have diabetes, because sometime they can't control

it. So far mine has been controlled, but it can lead to many other problems.

So being diabetic, isn't a quick fix, that a pill will cure. It's for life, and

if it bad enough, it can change our lives major. So you see, things are down

for you now, but at least your not diabetic and hopefully you will not become

one. It's not any fun.

So RUN, don't walk to the nearest phone any make an appointment with a new

doctor. THIS IS ONLY MY PERSONAL OPTION AND SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN OVER SOUND

MEDICALLY ADVISE. I hope this little pep talk helps and remember, that some

doctor will be willing to help you. It's all lot of trail and error. All lot

of time doctors are afraid to admit that they don't know what to do with you, so

the right answer for them is to learn to live with it, instead of referring you

to someone else.It might be something as little as just getting you on the right

combination of medicines. Keep us posted on how thing are going with you. Sorry

this has turned out to be so long.

Take Care,

Louie( a Lady) in WV
