Hey there again ! Thank's for your latest. Like Heidi, I've never heard

of a Puestow after a Whipple, but before. In my case, I had the Puestow

surgery first in 1998, and the Whipple in 2000, but like they said, " What do

I know! " :-) Like Chrissy said Dr. is the man who can do it, and I

would take some measure of comfort being in the hands of a real talented

surgeon the calibre of Dr. . I'm curious also as Chrissy asked, are you

a same day admit? For the Puestow, I was already in the hospital for four

weeks w/an attack, and the whipple was same day. Let me know when you find

out. I do hope that you get to see Chrissy before you go in and under.

Chrissy sure is a nice lady and a dedicated nurse. You know she lives about

25 miles or so up the road from me in McClellanville, S.C. Yo will pass

through there on the way as you probably already know. you know I took great

comfort in having this group's support behind me while recovering from the

Whipple. They weren't around when I had the Puestow, and I hope that you

will take comfort in knowing we are all behind you, hoping and praying that

your recovery is not too painful.

If it makes you feel any better, I remember that while the Puestow was

major surgery, I recovered faster, and had less pain post-op. It was no

picnic, it was relatively easier. To put it in a boxing analogy, the Whipple

was like going 15 rounds with Muhammad Ali in his prime, and the Puestow was

like going 12 rounds with Sugar Ray Leonard past his prime. I remember that

because one of Dr. Adam's residents in 2000 was actually named Muhammad Ali.

Sadness, as I lost another friend to Pancreatic cancer today. Of the

four good people I've lost to Pancreatic cancer not one of them had any

pancreatitis before, or after diagnosis. I've never found out what the

statistics for that are, but the way you and I are going we won't have much

of a pancreas left to worry about. well, gotta run and rest now, hope to

hear from you if you can before you go in. Remember, all of the good folks

of PAI pulling for you!

Your Pancreas pal,

Henry
