Guest guest
Dear Sue, So cool!!! Another pancreatitis link! I haven't seen this one before, and it's always interesting to see new information to refer to. More information to add to my already huge folder about chronic pancreatitis. Thanks for sending it to us. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC & SE Regional Rep. PAI, Intl. Guest guest
HI; I have been wondering what has been going on with you. How's work?! I certainly to hope all is well. You see, you give me a goal. I was in the hospital last week, awful time of it. Well as things do turn, I will need a total pancreatecetomy with islet tansplant. The doc mentioned my going to Cincinati Ohio. I am wondering around my house with a peg tube and a kangaroo pump. This thing hurts more then anything else I have ever had. The did an ercp and put in a stent from head to tail, and I dont think my panc is to pleased about the intrusion. I see the doc tomorrow so hopefull I will have all the answers I need. Maybe your BS will stabilise once you have fully gotten back to the things at work. Your going to have to give yourself more then a couple of weeks to get back at the top of your game. Thanks for the thoughts, Sue. I am still overwhelemed and so very tired that my mind isn't exactly fully functional. I am just focusing on getting up and around. Guest guest
Thank you so much for your concern and support. I am not doing so hot. I beleive the stent is beginning to clog up because the pain has come back. The last couple of days it has been increasing with the nausea as well. I'm just giong to hang on as long as I can until I can get this surgery rolling. I have an appt in Cincy on the 3rd and I do beleive that I will be flying with angel flight. I am very happy for that and excited as well. Fliss has told me what a power house you are. Bravo! YOu inspire me. How is work going? I lasted 3 weeks and collasped in pain. It was a friday anfternoon and I kept telling myself, just a few more hours until the weekend and rest. But I couldn't take it. Good thing though because I ended up being one sick girl. I am so glad that you are doing so well; that gives me a great deal of hope. With all my love, Chrissy
Guest guest
Hi Sue ! I feel like I have been a nurse forever, (or at least since 1975 seems like forever ! ). I actually don't mind it at all, I just miss those days that I use to work in the hospital. I felt like I was able to contribute soo much more then. I miss my neurosurgery days and my ortho patients, but then I fell in love and moved back to my home town . I actually have a wonderful husband so I can't complain. It is just that our town has limited interesting medicine to practice. Presently I have been working as a RN, Certified Case Manager, Disability Specialist. I am credentialed in that as well. How ironic is that ? I think God must of had a plan for me when I got sick. ( Still trying to figure that one out !). It was pretty pathetic when I got sick with all of this GI stuff, my doc had no clue what to do, nor did my employer. I co-ordinated my own treatment plan, set up my own referrals and investigated every avenue to death before I found Dr. Lehman in Indy. Once I found him and saw him, the other docs followed his recommnedations and I slowly started getting better. It was a 5 month stuggle of losing almost 55 pounds not by choice. Boy was I sick. If I wasn't as persistant as I am, I truely think I would of died. They just don't make doctors like they use to. But enough re-hashing of that. My point is that as a patient I find that you have to pursue everything possible on your own., cause no one else will take care of you like yourself. And I encourage my patients to do the same. I am a strong patient advocate and educate my patients as much as I can so they can go to the doctor and get answers to their questions. I work for the state helping the disabled. I am thankful that I have a good job. But if I had my health back, I would love to do hospital nursing again !! I am so happy that you are able to work as well. I have good days and bad days and some days I just can't go to work. but I have to pace myself, watch my diet and activity if I want to stay employed. But then with SOD and possible pancreatitis, anything can happen. My grandmother also died of pancreatic cancer, so i am always listening to my body. I have my annual CT in May. I dread that test as that chalk thaey make you drink makes me sick. YUK ! Here is hoping that you are having a great day. How is the weather in the UK ? We had almost 4-6 inches of snow today, kids had a snow day from school. Is it cold there ?
